Power steering pump removal

Thanks in advance for the help to recieve. I have a 2004 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6. The power steering pump pulley is making noise and noticed that wobbles when i shake it by hand. (Took belt off to verify this and it did). I noticed the only way to take the pump out is to use a pulley removal tool. Do I need to do this in place?? It looks to me that there is hardly any clearance to do this. Anyone have any experience with this problem?

Is your V6 the 24V or the 12V engine?
