Question about a few of Senna's cars....

I'm in the process of gathering some of Senna's F1 cars:

-Toleman-Hart 1984
° TG-183B #19 UNKNOWN
° TG-184 #19 MFH
-Lotus-Renault 1985
° 97T (1985) #12 FUJIMI
° 98T (1986) #12 UNKNOWN
° 99T (1987) #12 TAMIYA
-Mclaren-Honda 1988
° MP4/4 (1988) #12 TAMIYA
° MP4/5 (1989) #1 FUJIMI
° MP4/5B (1990) #27 TAMIYA
° MP4/6 (1991) #1 FUJIMI
° MP4/7A (1992) #1 TAMIYA
° MP4/8 (1993) #8 TAMIYA
-Williams-Renault 1994
° FW-16 #2 FUJIMI

#1- which model would more accurately represent the Lotus 98T? Would it be the Tamiya 99T w/conversion decals?
#2- I read about the differences in the Lola T93/00 and the one Senna tested in '92, anyone found a good WIP of this model?

I haven't built any models in 2 years.... moving here and there these past years I've sold all my models but kept all my tools just in case and now that I'm back in school I'll have time for this and want to build all the cars of my favorite race car driver. I'm in no hurry at all to build them as I want them beautifully built, none will be box stock.

That's all for now you guys.

Asj.

There's a curbside Lotus 98t from Model Factory Hiro.
You could build a full detail 98T using the Tamiya 99T and the Fujimi 97T plus decals as well i guess. On the other hand, if you wait a bit while building some of the others Fujimi might just come out with a kit of the 98T :-)

The Toleman TG183B is also available as a full detail kit from Hiro.

If you want to get into test cars, Senna tested the '83 Williams (FW08c?), TG183b (in '83 colors) and the BT52b. There is a video of his tests as well. Pretty cool stuff.

JayKay, the MFH are nice but pricey so I'll leave the expensive kits for last. I know they also make the TG-184....

ataschner, fui hoje no jogo do Timao e olha o que vi
(saw this at a soccer game in Sao Paulo, Brasil tonight.... awesome)

I'm sure someone of you knew he was a fan of the Corinthians...

I also went to visit his grave while im here on vaca... on my birthday! I know, its pretty weird... mom asks "what do you wanna do today?" I say "take me to go see Ayrton" and she did (its right around the corner)

Racer93, thanks but im on vacation, bought hundreds worth in his cars (mp4/4/5/6/7 in 1/20th, mp4/6 in 12, 1/20th seated figure, 1/12 standing, 1/12 NSX, decals) and Im not even home to receive all this stuff (my sister is). I'm gonna have a long time to build them, when im done, I might consider the test cars (or another 1/12 on, it happens to be my fav to build).

Wow, I didn't realize he tested for McLaren back in '83. I knew he did for quite a few teams but not for them.

For the 1/12 MP4/6's I've built in the past I used Tamiya decals and once i used a non-Tamiya Marlboro decal sheet (I forgot what brand it was). Now that I have all McLarens lined up (except the MP4/5 from Fujimi, I'm gonna get the Belgium version w/ rain tires cause it looks nice) I plan to use the same paint/painting method for all of them so they have a uniform color. I'll use Tamiya paints throughout all...

Going back to the decals; I found companies like MSM Creation, Decalpool, and "A-Modeler" that make the Marlboro decals for these cars but I've never used either of them. Which of these do you guys have experience with? Which do you find would best match with the Tamiya colors?

Is it possible to get that image in higher resolution, as high as possible?

Regards and thank you

Any suggestions on the decals??

I just started Senna's MP4/5B and have the A-Modelers full sponsor decal sheet. I just layed the first decals and they seem super easy to work with. Haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Thanks TheDoc, however I'm asking about the color of the mp4 red... What are you using to paint the mp4 red on the car? So those decals match with the body color? Some decals seem too orange in pictures.

The A Modelers decals match Tamiya TS-36 flourescent red extremely well. I too was worried about their match but I am very impressed with how well they match. I'll try to get some good pictures up for you for comparison.

Thanks Doc, I'd appreciate that. I'm gonna be using the Tamiya paints as well. I have an extra MP4/5B that I'm gonna try finisher's mp4 red for comparison but since I'm going to display all cars side by side so I want uniformity between the colors. I've used tamiyas fluorescent red before so that's what I'm leaning to use as of now. That being said I'm also gonna buy all decals for the 6 cars all at once to get a better deal on them that's why I ask.

Thanks.

Here are a couple pics for comparison. The quality isn't great since it's from my phone, and flour red is a tough color to capture, but it gives you a pretty good indication of how close it is.
