Google "BWM M Coupe Colors" and...

Thanks ZZ, I've spent hours on google this morning neither Laguna Seca blue nor Estoril blue are the right ones.
I tend to say it's Topaz blue but I'm only 50% sure, thus asking for help in this thread hoping that someone has better knowledge.

Is this your own photograph or an exact car you know of? The photo itself has the color balance skewed such that Estoril blue will look like that under those conditions. Laguna Seca blue is a bright, non-metallic blue, Topaz blue doesn't have the purple/cobalt look that Estoril has. I'm 99% sure the car in the photo is Estoril Blue unless it was painted a custom, out-of-range color.

Thanks for your help ZZ, not a car I personally know, just a picture from the net I've found while trying to find a suitable color for the Revell M Coupe.

A few more pictures I have found while looking around:

That last picture looks more like it could be Topaz. The color the Revell/Dragon kit came in was not a factory color. It was closest to Estoril Blue, but w/o any metallic. Whether you choose Estoril or Topaz, it will look good. LeMans...I'm not wild about that color for some reason.

My mind was easily made up on my M Coupe when I saw the final Spartanburg M Coupe that was produced in white w/the BMW flag graphics on front/rear corners.

Thanks for your help ZZ, I'll most probably will go with Topaz Blue, I will anyway need the paint for the Z8 model also and 60 ml should largely be enough for both builds.
The white M coupe is a great idea and I have been working on modifying a coupe into the BMW Motorsport version for that livery.

It is definitely Estorilblau. The E36/8 M-Coupe was never released in Topaz.

Hi Mike, thank you for your input.
It sure does look similar to Estoril Blue but somehow it is too dark for it:

I'll order Estoril Blue, Atlanta Blue and Topaz Blue and then see if any of them looks more like it, or even mix Estoril Blue with Topaz blue and see what comes out of it.

Atlanta Blue is a pale blue metallic w/the slightest hint of turquoise. It was the Z3 color in the James Bond movie. Even had a South Carolina license plate because of the factory there.

The photo you showed is Estoril...the color is very dependent on lighting conditions and photo setup. It's one of those colors that can look a lot different under different conditions. Though you may choose to mix it w/Topaz to get it more to your liking. And Mike knows his BMW's

Haha, that is definitely NOT Estoril. I own 1:1 M Coupe and when I go to meets and stuff I see plenty of Estoril coupes, and this is not it. This is not Laguna Seca, or Topaz either. The color is a BMW individual, called Velvet Blue. But the car is most likely a repaint, cause I'm not aware of the US spec Coupe (judging by the rear bumper and plate holder) that was painted in this color from the factory.

Hi ZZ, you are right Atlanta blue is to light. I plan on using it on the Tamiya Z3 roadster.

I will probably do some test before deciding the color for the coupe, will see what happens when I mix Estoril blue with some Topaz blue.

Thanks Alex, this is an interesting option. Will check it out. :)
