My 94 Z24 Cavalier with the 3.1 liter has an ignition problem. When you turn the key to start it it starts fine but when you let the key go back to its resting position it shuts it off. If you keep the key from going to far back it will run all day but as soon as you let go of the key it may only move a 1/4 inch and then shuts the car off. I know the key is coming back to far, so is there a way to adjust it to keep the ignition switch from coming back to far. Any information would be helpful and pictures even better if it is going to be very complicated.

it has a broken wire on switch i would put a new key switch in it because because it's broken ground wire maybe pos+ wire you will no when you pull switch out you may even fix switch when you see all wires.

It acts like the spring has to much pressure that its pushing the switch postion to far back. Thats why I was really hoping all I would have to do is repostion it. How would the broke wire cause this.

Ok everyone heres an update

Took housing around switch off. Changed electrical part on tail end of switch out. They call it a " Switch/Commutateur Interruptor ". Car starts fine know and stays running. Hope if anyone has the same problem this will help.

Thanks Fiserman
