I recently aquired a 1964 Thunderbird that would probaly be considered a project car. My grandson is 15 and is excited about getting it running. My question is we cannot get the slide steering column to lock in the proper place, is there a safety switch of some sort that does not allow the car to start when the steering wheel is not locked?
Thanks for your help

Welcome to the forum APDon. I've gone through my old Motor manuals and can't find any info about the steering column lock or a safety switch. My only recourse, since no one else seems to have the answer here either, is to send you to an early T-bird forum for help. Sorry I can't be of more help but try this site. I'm sure you and your grandson will have great memories of this project! Good luck and have fun. http://www.tbirdforum.com/forums/flair-birds-1964-1966/
