i have an issue with my 01 bravada:
for some reason my fuel pump will not prime when i try to start when its really hot outside. when it cools of during the night, the car will come on with no issues. but when it wont start the battery light will come on and i cannot hear the pump doing anything. i dont have much gas in it, and i know that leaving a bit of gas in the tank will help keep the pump cooled off. am i right in assuming that putting some gas in the car will help with this problem or is it something else? any and all info is welcome and appreciated!

Are there any other problems?
Trouble turning over etc?
Or is it only the fuel pump that won't run?

If Shorods advice around the battery doesn't work, then:
..it does have an aftermarket remote start alarm though
That maybe the problem.
They can be very temperamental.

Well let us know what happens after you check voltage to the pump and we can go from there.

somebody said to check the alternator to cover all my bases. i have a question about removing it. there is a tensioner below the alternator, which way should i turn it to loosen it up? or should i remove the pulley thats right next to the alternator instead? thanks for any and all suggestions

Disconnect the positive cable from the battery first.
There's a square hole at the pulley end of the tensioner...attach the square drive of a 3/8" ratchet wrench into that hole and pull it so's the pulley moves towards the middle of the engine.

update: i think it might be an electrical issue because this morning i went to fiddle with the truck and the fuel pump primed and the car started with no problem. then to make sure i wasnt tripping, later on i came back to start it again and no action. i think maybe something might not be connected correctly and its causing a problem. i do have an aloarm system and it has a remote start. im doing a test again because the wires throughout the fuel system are getting power. i disconnected the battery and il let it sit for a few hours and then see if it starts. im taking it to the shop tomorrow so ill keep you guys updated and as always, thanks for your help!
