 i got my SCC magazine and all the cars from 2F2F were all slow! the Skyline GTR34 with 3 NOS BOTTLES hit 14.1!!! And the Evo 7 hit 15.3!!! DUDE, a ricey integra can beat that Evo 7! but my point is that those cars are pretty damn slow....SLOW

That has to be full of shit, a stock straight from the factory GTR or EVO7 can all do faster times than that! I think thats full of shit.
Maybe that yank magazine has no idea how to launch a 4WD car.
Ie, rev the GTR to around 8000rpm and drop the clutch.
In WHEELS magazine a stock GTR 34 N1 (well it is an N1) did 12.7secs with half a tank of petrol, corrovit gear and two ppl in the car.
An EVO7 does about 13.5secs according to Best Motoring.

You should have taken the time to read the article...
The cars they were testing were the actual cars used in the movie, but most of the cars were already trashed or not tuned properly...
The NOS bottles in the Skyline were not even connected, they were just there for show...
Bottom line, the cars they tested were worst off than the stock cars that came off the assembly line...

you beat me to it...
those cars were beyond whooped on in all aspects, and most of them were stock... with a couple hundred pounds of added weight...
you're surprised they were slow?

Yeah i just watched a show not too long ago about the cars and they test ran them, the cars arent hookep up all the way and most of it was for just show. but i dont think that stock r34's run 12.7 sec quarter miles. i may be wrong because people here, (japanese) dont run quarter miles they run 100k, dont know if thats the same as 1/4 mil. but they usually run 13's.

I was talking about a R34 N1, as in with N1 turbos which stock have about 300RWHP (exactly 214RWKW as tested by MOTOR mag)(also thats a dyno dynamics power level so on a dyno jet it would be higher.).
MOTOR magazine in Australia tested it with corrovit gear so it must be right. Thats with 2 ppl in the car and half a tank of gas like they always do their tests.
But yeah, a normal R34 does around low to mid 13's.
And I have def seen EVO7's do 13.5 secs in best motoring VCD's.

Damn man, the film director should have some idea of street racing without riced out cars (and they should realise that this exists).
The N1 was simply a Skyline with toughter internals, and a steel turbo, to homologate the race car that took part (and probably won ;)), the Super Group N races.
A RWD GTR is just stupid - your just taking the technology away from the car, and the technology is what made the car what it is today.

except for the non awd skylines that aren't gtr's.
awd isn't god. attessa is a great awd setup however.
if you really want to get into it, most hardcore owners end up getting the hks torque splitter for hardcore launches so they put all the power to rear.
but hey... who am i...
regardless, the cars used for testing were beaten horribly by that point, and probably not the "originals", but rather some of the copies of the original cars.

the torque splitters are used more for burnouts, the HKS car runs full 4WD on its launches.
See when the RH9 cars do their burnouts, the guys pull their handbrakes up, that is the torque splitter, not a handbrake. They put it down again when they launch.

find me proof of that?
if you've got an awd car running drags, you want to burn all four.
the splitters are used, and can be dialed in any assortment of percentages to give lots/little tq front rear.
and yeah, they'd drag with all the tq to the back wheels. not awd.
sorry.

If you read the damn article, you would know that the cars weren't used for their performance, they were used for their looks... in fact, there were 3 or 4 other skylines that they used during filming of the movie for the crash sequences...
you can always edit the movie footage to make the cars look like they're going faster...

they should be better if not stock times especially with 3 nitrous bottles, theres no excuse of it being "beat to fuck" thats no excuse
but it's beat to fuck.
get over it.
does your car run as good as possible after you beat the shit out of it and don't tune it?
read to damn article before you try to rip on a car that would tear an srt4 a new asshole.
these 2 posts are by far the most lame, ignorant, and undisputedly incorrect posts i've ever read.
and don't think i'm trying to defend a car that's that lame.
the point is that the skyline and other cars tested were beat. and it was noted multiple times in the article.
go read it.
then find the factory 1/4 times for a skyline. don't try and say something stupid like "skylines are slow" b/c of one movie car.
but it's beat to fuck.
get over it.

its not an EVO its a Lancer its too high off the ground (unless they raised it). it can't be an EVO its got the 7 Shape and the US EVO is an eight..........
i could be wrong but i swear blind its and standard lancer thats been riced up
Altho i said this about the Skyline in FnF and later found it to be a GTR it had had something done to it which made me think it wasn't a GTR it had something to do with its wheel arches.

Ever tried to do a 4 wheel burnout without just taking off or breaking something? Its nigh on impossible. U will note if u watch the HKS GTR take off, all 4 wheels are spinning and u get 4 black marks on the ground.
U can only really warm up the front wheels beforehand tho.
The HKS GTR is the fastest 4WD in Japan, how can it be that if it only uses RWD??
Watch footage of the RH9 cars, all 4 wheels are spinning, why do u think they get new Cusco diffs for front and rear if its only RWD car, why do they have torque splitters? If its a full race car it would be cheaper to take the whole front diff , axles out etc.
They definitely launch in 4WD, maybe u r right and they set more bias to the rear, but the front wheels are still being driven.
And here is the final piece of proof. Why does the HKS GTR and GTR 700 or whatever its called that that Mario guy runs have slicks on the front wheels as well as the back???

phatdex, i'm not going to argue it... but it goes both ways.
just b/c you've got awd doesn't mean you need to use it. people do both.
end of story.
the car in the movie is an evo 7, which i read on overboost, and a few different articles. the 8 wasn't available for filming.
i know skyline is a fast car alright, but shit they shouldnt have made it slower for the movie, i mean sum rich kid is goning to look at it and say "wtf 95 g for skyline and this slo" plus all the rich kids seeing that aint gonna give motorex any more buisness than usual , they messed up with the magazine coverage
i don't know about you, but i don't think motorex is really worried about it.
the magazine showed the blatant truth about some cars that were used in a movie and were beat up from the feet up.
motorex doesn't sell beat up cars. go to their site and you'll see that.
i don't think there's too much of an issue with people being mislead.
real skyline enthusiasts know the truth.
anyone who thinks otherwise is just a follower who jumped on the bandwagon. maybe they'll go away.

yep, basically 100% to the rear until slippage occurs then it can be anything from 0/100 to 50/50.
But once again, why would there be slicks on the front wheels of a drag GTR unless they use 4wd for launches?
Answer: They launch in 4WD, maybe with the bias set more to the back, but the front wheels are being driven.
That is definitely true of all the RH9 cars because they all use street tyres so they need all the grip they can get.

I think most of the BMWs are supposed to be 50/50. That must be a feat, considering most of the cars use long I6 engines.

not really much of a feat...
you just move the motor back...
take a look at where it sits in relation to the strut towers and you'll see why it's got that 50/50. the s2k is the same way. the motor sits way back...
rx7 is the same...
vettes have close to, if not, 50/50...
alot of porsches did, older front engine/rear drive cars especially...

Naruto, I agree with you. The Mc F1 has about 51/49 or 50/50 weight distribution.

Your absolutely right...they are very expensive...but i wonder how much they really cost in Japan....i saw a guy in New Delhi, India who has a Maroon r33 GTr....he said he bought it for 18 lakhs....wich roughly converts to 36 thousand dollars...
And b4 anyone starts to yell "BS" i was just in India last summer...and i ran into the guy unexpectedly in India Gate, New Delhi, India...India Gate is a name of a place/resort in New Delhi
And No....everyone is not poor in India as they show on Discovery Channel....I my self come from a rich family from there....there are many rich people there who can afford to be spoiled..

36k isn't far off for an r33...
keep in mind that motorex has their "legalization fee" listed on the site per model, so if you look at their pricing for the cars, and then subtract that fee (b/c it's included in the price) you'll find out what you're paying for the car...
and since this topic has been done so many times...
you can still find your own skyline and ship it here, which will cost "less" than a motorex skyline, but you still have to get it legalized, which motorex can do, or help you do. you won't save much going that route, and there's no guarantee on what kind of skyline you'll be getting.
motorex only brings gt-r's, and they only bring low mileage, high quality cars...
that's enough for me.
i sound like a damn commercial...

is that hostility?
i sound like a commercial because i've repeated the same common knowledge about 10 times in different threads that all end up being about the same topic.
which should be common knowledge to anyone interested in US legal skylines. or pricing, or legalization.
sooner or later people will realize that the answer doesn't change, and that there's 2 companies working hand in hand to get what people want. it comes at a price. deal.

Maybe if you guys actually red the artical in SCC it says why the cars are slow. They cut the All wheel Drive from the skyline so they could drift it and they say that the nos bottles are for show. NOT ACTUALL NOS. Of course it would be slower

Did you notice the issue I have with the gearbox in signature? I had to littlerally double clutch the hell out of it to get into third gear. Also not to make excuesses but the track I run at is over a second slower than the Aussie tracks.
Their top rotary powered cars have come here and well over a 1 sec off the pace they get over there. Since drags here are not as popular a good track does not exist.
I was getting all four wheel spinning off the line with a light hazing of the rears. That was with VHT put down for traction!

I've seen a basically stock R33 GTR run 12.7, actually. They're damn quick cars.
