New classic required

I have to get a Chrysler and I'm not a huge fan of any newer body styles. I really like the classics (pre mid 1970) but realize that's a bag of issues. So I have a few questions.
What kind of life can you expect out of the classics? I also read that fuel efficiency wasn't a concern during design. How much can that be altered? Or what would the cost be to put a new motor in? Any guidance or direction will be greatly appreciated.

Hi dtwdavids, i like it when people are interested in these types of cars! Get one in good shape and you should get very good useage with good upkeep. As far as mods your wallet is the only limitation. These models are harder to come by these days than chevys and fords but you end up with a vehicle that stands out from the rest.
