96 Monte Carlo Z34 Rattle

Hey, my 96 Z34 just recently developed a loud and severe rumble. The car was in great running condition prior to this. It seems to be coming primarily from the steering column. If anyone has any idea what's wrong I would greatly appreciate a reply. Thanks!

You probably have a bad ISS ( intermediate steering shaft ) as this has been a prevalent problem for years in the GM cars . The problem is the factory lubrication fails and the shaft starts to be noisy and popping when it's turned . Try doing a search for the " GM intermediate steering shaft problem " here on this forum or do a Google search for the same item on the web and info should be available .

greasing the stering column in the engine compartment usually corrects this..do a search on this issue I HAVE seen pictures posted with this grease location...
