hey, i just want to know if a four door alternator would be similar to a H/B alternator. I fried my old one and found one in the J/Y and was just wondring. I have a 1.5 litre and im pretty sure the four door is a 1.6. Or do that even matter??

I think the 1.5's use a Mitsubishi alt not completely sure though, I do know that the 1.6's use a Nippon Denso alt I think the difference between them is how many grooves there are on the, shit i don't remember what it's called, the black round thing that the belt attaches to. If that's the case, you wouldn't be able to use that alt, but don't take my word for it, stick you head in there and check

as far as i know all civic alternators 88-95(D-series) are the same, the 96+(D-series) are the same too, but the plug hole is different on the alternator.....Ours are round, the 96+ are like square or something...

I just checked on the Majestic honda site and they list the same part number for the Mitsubishi and the Nippon Denso alts (interchangeable?) for our generation Civics.

One thing though, they list different pulley part numbers for each alt (different diameter, or number of ribs?).
Good Luck. :)

Call a Honda parts department they will be able to provide you with the correct information.

I think the Mitsubishi alts are ones people put on their car after their stock alternators broke. I had a Mitsu alt come off my 1.5. But I can't imagine Honda putting Mitsubishi parts on their cars from the factory. I think Denso and maybe Mashishita or something are the stock ones.

i had denso on both my 88dx and my 90 si........ so i dun know, and if the 4door that you are talkin about is a 1.6 then he has 10.3" rotors, rear disc, MPFI, d16a6, power windows, etc... thats a lot yo, buy that shit!! Or, unless it has DPFI, then its a dx or a lx and those were 1.5 liter motots.....

If you can't fish the alternator out than remove one of the axles and lower it straight down. It takes me about 15 minutes to pull an axle.

yeh i finally got it out, i had to get it out on the left side of the manifold, it came out pretty easily, just had to push sum hoses out of the way:)

I take off the mounting bracket, takes me 10 minutes to remove/install an alternator.
