Problem after Tail Light Sensor Bypass 1991 Camry Wagon

My tail lights went out and after checking the bulbs and fuse by the driver side door I found a fix online that had me find the Light Failure Sensor in the trunk and bypass it by clipping off the wires and connecting them to each other.

The problem is, after doing this the brake lights are now always on when I have my lights turned on and the tail lights still don't work.

The other strange thing is that when I don't have the lights on, pressing the brake pedal now causes all the lights in the rear that work to turn on (the ones on the sides, and the license plate light)

I connected the green and red wire to the green and white wire, and then the light green wire to the other green wire. I taped off the two yellow wires and left the ground as is and also tried connecting it to the body.

My headlights, turn signals, reverse, and the side lights in the rear all work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried replacing the light failure sensor with one from a salvage yard?
