Hello all, hope I'm posting in the right place...

I'm hoping to find my husband a replica model of a car he drove at Pikes Peak a couple of years ago. It was in the open wheel category - basically a 750bhp go kart. Thing is, I very much doubt there are any replicas available so am toying with the idea of having one made. Where do I start and am I going to have to sell a kidney to pay for it?
Any advice much appreciated.

Do you have a photo you could post or a link to something showing the vehicle?

First off, nice car! Honesly, I don't know much about open-wheel rally cars but it appears to me that much if not all of the vehicle is custom fabricated? If thats true it will require some highly skilled modeling to scratch-build an accurate replica from photos or perhaps drawings if available.

There are several members here that know much more about off-road rally cars than I. Perhaps there is something available in kit form that is close enough to serve as a starting point.

I think much of it was custom built - therein lies the problem. The husband drives quite a lot of different cars but most are from the factory in some shape or form, so models are 'relatively' easy to come by. The Pikes Peak car was def a 'one off' which is why it's missing from the 'cars I have driven in earnest' category ;)
It'd be a fab gift for him and could sit quite happily alongside our collection of race suits, helmets and 'bits I broke' so if anyone thinks they could cobble one together, I'd really like to hear from you. If not, if anyone knows where I could find someone to make it, please do get in touch.
This weekend, he's driving the new Aston Martin Zagato at the Nurburgring 24hr. The Aston legacy means that by this time next year, he'll be able to buy the 24hr replica without a problem. The missing piece is the Pikes Peak car and, as a good wife (!), I'd like to make that piece of the puzzle ;)
Thanks again, guysx

sorry, I'm not going to offer any help at all here but I just wanted to say that I am actually quite proud that both Mr and Mrs Dickie Meaden post on Automotive Forums.

^ no reason why we shouldn't ;) Rich has a huge collection of model cars and I'm sure if he had the time, he'd make them.
If anyone has any more ideas, do keep them coming. I'm away for the weekend, but will drop back in when I come home.
Have a good one!

I'll start the ideas. Sprintcar for cage and front end, F1 rear wing for thr front and F1 sidepods, CanAm car for engine and transaxle, NHRA Pro Stock hood scoop.

Anybody else?
