92 PA Towing Advice

I need some advice from the experts and automotive masters that have greatly assisted me in the past. What is your advice on using a 92 Buick PA to tow a 67 Ponti Bonneville for about 1750 miles at a 50 mph speed using a hitch installed by U-Haul? I would use the Bonneville to tow the PA, since the Bonneville has a larger engine and the PA being a smaller car in weight, but I can't seem to locate a professional to install a hitch on the Bonneville. Everyone is saying that the Bonneville sits too low to the ground which would cause the fuel tank to rub the asphalt every time a bump in the road is struck. I had others to state the fuel tank on the Bonneville is too wide and its obstructing the area that would be welded or bolted. Would towing the Bonneville with the PA strain the engine? Would the PA survive such a trip? I'm relocating and I just can't leave the Bonneville, not even to come back for it at a later date. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

No way to answer this as the condition of a 20 year car is unkown, only you can determine it's worthiness, no? I would not, in general, recommend this as you are braking for 2 cars, and the strength and attaching points of either car are suspect at best.

I have done a lot of boat towing with a 93 PA in the past. Pulling 3.5k of weight on a dual axel trailer. Many 400 mile trips adding up to maybe 7,ooo miles total. Rear end was sagging a bit, but nothing crazy. The engine is not an issue. Stopping is THE issue. My trailer had brakes. One time they didnt work and that was real scary. Without brakes on a trailer I wouldn't do it. I also added an Aux tranny cooler. Pretty easy and cheap job.

Where are you going to be relocating to? You have some serious heat and some seriously hilly terrain depending on where you are headed... You being in Mesa know that you could point in another direction and be at 5000 ft as opposed to 2000 Ft..

Could the 92 PA do it... Yes, Could it stop that weight...NO... Trailer brakes would be a must... The trans will get insane hot unless you have a massive cooler on it..

In all honesty I would not do this with my 3800 Pontiac Trans Sport Van( listed as a Medium Truck Platform ) and the van is rated for 3000 Lbs from the factory with Dual Trans coolers bla bla bla....

If anything have someone drive the PA and get a Budget or uhaul truck and haul it to where you are going..
