2001 3.1 engine replacement

Well, my engine seized up today. I knew it has had some problems that remain unresolved but hoped I'd get a few more days out of it.

I'm going to replace the 3.1 engine on a 2001 Lumina. The body is pristine, engine is shot, tranny is good. So it is a good candidate, and besides, I don't have the money to buy another newer car at the moment.

Having never done this, but not afraid to give it a shot (I'm already out $1,000 on it, what's another mistake going to run after that?).

Any suggestions?

I have a question. Is yours white with a blue or grey interior?

Good used 3.1s can be kinda pricey, at least around here. Have you checked into it yet?

My advice, at this point, is buy a can of PB Blaster and start spraying every bolt, nut, wiring plug, exhaust flange and anything else that will have to come apart...by the time you actually get to it, things will come apart much easier...

Thanks JeffCo. Sprayed what I could find and others that looked like they'd be coming out. I only paid $800 for the car but putting a decent engine in it and it'll be a good working car again.

Now to find an engine.

Now tell me what color it is, I'm testing a theory here...
