Coolant light starting blinking

My coolant light starting blinking on my Transport 3.4 1998. The light blinks randomly at beginning and can stay on. Fluid is checked. How can I be sure the sensor is broken?
I noticed that there is a other light for “HOT ENGINE” with is NOT on. Is the same sensor used for both lights?
