I have a 2001 Mustang V6; 3.8L and I am having problems with my air condition. When I start my engine and turn on my air condition, it initially blows hot air; and then after a minute or two, the air cools down to a cooler temperature, but not as cold as I like it! Also, if I am sitting in traffic or idle, when the air condition is on, my temperature gauge goes toward the "H", like my vehicle is about to run hot. So, I have to turn the air condition off, so the car can cool off. Someone told me, that I need to buy a thermostat and have the anti-freeze and coolant flushed and refilled, and maybe that will stop the problem. Does that sound like that will help? Or do any of you guy know what the problem might be?

see if the fan is turning fast with the a/c on. make sure you dont have a low voltage problem. your other post sounds like a bad alt

Have you found your AC problems yet? There are two separate issues here. The AC operation and the engine temperature. First thing is the fan should have 2 speeds, with the AC on you should notice a difference in fan speed which is controlled by the AC cycling switch. Second, you should have your AC system looked at, if it's blowing cool, not cold, then you either have a leak or a unplanned restriction in the system.
