One year earlier, I post the first part (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1013455&highlight=gtziaf) of my tribute, to great Gilles Villeneuve. Now it’s time to represent the second car, of this tribute.
It’s the stunning Lancia Beta Montecarlo from the 1979 Giro d'Italia race. With this numbered 576 car, Villeneuve and Röhrl win the race but disqualified (for using motorway).

The kit are form Model Factory Hiro in 1/24 scale.
The kit's good things are : The excellent body resin, the decals (extreme gloss and well printed), very clean metal parts.
But the bad things are many and I disappointed for that. I read many times on this forum for the superb MFH kit and the professionalism of this brand. I also have a 312PB and F2004 from MFH and they look great. But with this, the story is different. I think the MFH make a rush work with Beta kit.
The reasons are... No pedals or footrest, no handbrake, errors in instructions (such the place of hood lockers), no colour guide, no details inside of door panels, the seatbelts are not enough for 2 seats, and the worst of all. The engine cover grills (metal part) are have, all of them, different length. Also, for this kind of price, I expected a set of valves for the tires and some switches for the interior.
This is the result :

Whatever faults the kit may have, you seem to have overcome them. The model looks fantastic.

That looks outstanding! Hiro kits could be a drag to work on, but more often than not, the result looks really good. Just think of it as a challenge - I bet building this kit made you a better modeler in the process!

For sure, to read your tutorials and WIP's its the best lesson to a car modeler, and you teach me a lot :smooch:, and I'm pleased for this. But also, to build these hiro kits are a beutiful challenge....

Really cleanly built model. This is what sometimes i don't understand about over priced resin kits. Is your paying for a good kit (MFH), you would expect to have all the detailing bits in the kit. But you end up paying even more to just finishing it. And how can a company make mistakes on the intstructions? I never understood that, no one proof reads them?
Sorry but it makes me angry sometimes. Thanks for sharing and this makes me weary on buying MFH kits in the future. Im going to have to be more cautious on buying my next MFH kit. For this one ill stick with the esci kit.
On to your build. The decals came out perfect. And so did the details and paint.

My friend MidMazar thanks for your comments and I agree 100% with you...
But the prices of the good multimedia kits going crazy. I understand a 200$ bargin for a good multimedia kit and the half of them for a curbside one. But the new MFH's going to 400$, really un-understatable.
Hope, something changes on price policy of mm companies, in the near future. I think they earn more money with more friendly prices, in the end...
With best regards

Fantastic looking car.
I like the brutal appearance of this car.
Although you might have been disappointed with MFH, it doesn't show. Just fantastic.

Thanks for your comment , my friend...
As, I say before I am not exactly disapointing with the MFH 's kit. I know there are so many"lemons" in model market with the double price of my kit. The base are very good and the casting are very clean. But, I 'm sure the Hiro company, has the "know how" and the technologies to make more (and some basics) for this kind of price.
