Aluminum Framed Gaskets Sealing Problem?

I am replacing my lower intake gaskets with the aluminum ones and I was wondering if I will have problems with them sealing to the intake manifold. The manifold has some pitting (see pictures below). Comments, suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Take some lite #400 sandpaper on a board an lightly clean up the manifold..

Lower intake is relatively cheap I believe, you may want to just consider throwing it in the trash.

I've heard a lot of warnings against using sandpaper. Maxwedge has been around a long time here, so maybe it works just fine. However, remember that sandpaper will remove high spots, not fill low ones (the pits).

One solution I have heard about is to fill the pits with JBweld. I guess the only way to smooth that is to use sandpaper. As for cleaning the surface, I'd be tempted to use this technique from D-tips.com (about 3/4 the way down).
