Hello.

Has any F1 Short Tail ever been fitted the 15(?) Spoke Long Tail Alloys?

Not exactly.

#073 wears a custom set of OZ wheels that are quite similar.

#011 wore a set of these (perhaps the very same wheels) briefly too.

Other than that - not that I am aware of.

At the time that the design and manufacture of those road wheels was being commissioned from OZ, McLaren decided to buy a total of 10 sets. The cost of making a set of wheels is mostly in creating the tool, so you'd like to spread that out over as many units as possible. The idea had been triggered by the owner of #73, who had requested one set for his car. This would have been when they were doing the LM-engine conversions, in about 2000.
The last I knew, which was a number of years later, their warehouse inventory still included the other 9 sets of the wheels, residing pristinely in their original boxes. It seemed that there were not a lot of other owners whose taste extended in that direction.

I may be incorrect here and please correct me if you know for certain but the hub centre nut on the 1957 GTR and GT look to be of a smaller diameter to the original Road cars and GTR's

I've never liked the look of those wheels on those 2 cars, they only suit the longtail GTRs IMO

Tortoise > I like your story :) When you talk about warehouses, it's McLaren or owner who kept the wheels ?

McL. factory ordered and bought them from OZ, and have been stuck with them to this day.

Phil - I believe very strongly that it is a myth that #073 and/or #011 were ever owned by the Ojjeh family.

If Chris is paying attention he can probably provide a secondary confirmation on this.

Never were. They were owned by 2 brothers in Venezuela

Hello,

I talked with Mansour Ojjeh at Geneva on 2003 ;) not a Venezuelian :)
#011 was advertised a short time at www.mmc-paris.com and I was told about the story on paint color who matched a watch and the name was Ojjeh.

I wait for proof for Venezuelian brothers, names, etc... years of ownership.

Phil

PS : tortoise what do you think ?

I could not say that Ojjeh bros were, or were not, involved with either of these cars, but can say that Ven. bros were. The latter were responsible for the cars' "characterful" paint/interiors, 2-way radio system, etc. Cars were kept at Woking, used couple of times/year for Continental holidays.
We should respect the fact that their names are not really in public domain in this context.

Not really; I don't keep track of those things. General sense is that one bought 73 when new, then other bro wanted one and got 11, maybe '99-ish.

Thank you very much tortoise. The history is not as simple for these cars.
#073 was refitted in 2000 with LM-spec motor, I don't know for #011.
The two cars were seen in Paris together in 2003 I think.
