Just filled up my GP with gas, (it was almost empty) now it won't start. Do I have vapor lock, is the fuel filter clogged? Help please! My car is still sitting at the gas station

what year and model. check the ignition relay and fuel pump relay in your engine compartment fuse box, make sure they are in tight. Did you continue to top off after it stopped?

its a 2000 GT, 3.8L, didn't actually run out of gas but I'm sure i was close, the low fuel light had been on awhile, it didn't stall or anything, just wouldn't start back up after i filled it up with gas

check those relays. one thing you can do is switch one of the like relays to the fuel pump relay to see if it will start. use one of the relays like headlights or something similar that will not interfere with starting the car. did you completely fill up?

yeah sometimes it will enter the vapor canister and cause problems, I have replaced a few that were full of gas. again check the relays (ignition, fuel pump and injectors). if topping off caused the problem it may start after some evaporation?????

Also check fuses at the glove box and at the engine compartment, might just be a coincidence though.

That would make people think you might have a fuel pump going bad. When they start failing they can work perfect after sitting for some time, then they will get stressed and fail un til you let it cool down again...
If it happens again try and listen to the fuel pump priming when you turn the key before cranking the engine. If you csan't hear any humming sound coming from the fuel tank it is very likely the pump is the problem.

don't top off the tank. I would replace the fuel pump relay just to be safe it is like 15 dollars. I have had the same problem with my 97. as oscar said it may be possible that the fuel pump may have issues, but I would start with the cheap stuff first.
