Heater issues 2003 Explorer 75k miles

Started with noise like a door flapping.then realized i have no heat.
The blower works ok.
The flapping noise would stop if i put it on max air.

Im a widow,so how exactly can I find out what this is.
If its a heater door would it show a code?
