i am in the market for a new scan tool. i am leaning towards the otc pegusis but am very impressed with the snapon verus coverage. cost is a factor but not the only factor. i need a good tool that can make me money. by running the tests a good tech needs. i am not a parts changer i have a genysis and like it but is slow and coverage is limited. how are both on speed, coverage, ease of use, and navigation. all opinions requsted.

please vote in poll above.

no sales pitches please!!!

Our shop had a genisys and we got tired of paying for upgrades so we bought a Verus. About three months later we gave it back and bought a bluetooth genisys. It might be slow but its worth it. That's just my opinion.

I haven't used either of the tools in the poll, so I won't respond to the poll. I will throw another option out there though, the Autel DS708. It definitely has more capability than my OTC Genisys, updates are free for 3 years, and the updates cover all makes, models, and systems for domestic, asian, and european cars. The updates can be done wirelessly via the onboard WiFi, and updates are available as makes are updated, not once per year. I've had my tool since January and have had probably an average of two updates per month.

Keep in mind that I'm a DIYer and not using this in a shop atmosphere so I don't know how it would stand up to that use. Also, their customer service/tech support is virtually non-existent from my experience. That might be in part because they haven't technically released this tool to the US market yet, but it is available and covers all the US makes.
