no backup lights

'96 T&C LXi 3.8L: Haven't had backup lights for years, but now need them for the DMV. Bulbs are OK, EATX relay is ok. According to my factory manuals there is supposed to be a fuse for the b/u lights. It is not in the cavity where the manual says. In fact, several things are not where the manual says they should be.
Question: is there, or is there not, a fuse for the backup lights???
According to the parts guy at one local dealership the neutral safety switch can be accessed from the outside of the tranny (using the VIN to determine which trans), but I don't think so. I'm looking at the nss as the source of the problem if there is no blown fuse. Shift handle is tight and lights don't come on with wiggling.

I never could find any fuse for the backup lights, but we did manage to get one of them working. Of course, that meant removing the pan and 6+ qts of fluid, removing the valve body, and replacing the Park/neutral safety switch and gasket. OF COURSE Chrysler couldn't just put the switch on the outside of the tranny or with the shift linkage like they used to be --- IDIOTS!
But all is not well yet. The connector from the main harness to the P/NSS is crumbling and damaged at the corner where the pin for the backup lights hook up. Yeah, this is part of the POS harness that was destroyed by battery acid dripping on it because Chrysler thought it was a neat idea to put the main harness junctions RIGHT UNDER THE BATTERY TRAY. IDIOTS!
That already had cost me over $300 to have repaired when the tranny self-destructed the FIRST time.
I love this van but Chrysler should have been sued by the FEDS long ago and made to pay every owner for at least one transmission and the other dumbazz crap they "mis-engineered" on them. At least I don't have those nightmare power sliding doors to worry about.
