Grand Prix/siren noise

My 07 Grand Prix GT is making a very loud siren noise.
The noise does not occur while idling.It begins as a very low but loud noise, and goes up in pitch as the car accelerates, then returns to the lower pitch as the car slows down, then stops when the car isnot moving.

Any ideas as to what this could be? I've researched the web..and come up with wheel bearing issues..but..what other things could it be?

Wheel bearing is possible but normally the noise would be a lower frequency type sound. The transaxle could make a whining sound. When was the last service on it and how many miles do you have?

Thanks for the reply.... It has just under 62,000 miles. If by service you mean oil change...it was about 2k miles ago. It hasnt had service other than that....except once for replacement of the front struts at 31k.

We did the whole "lift the front end and grab the tire at the top and bottom , push and pull to check for movement" and didnt notice anything.

What I meant by "service" was automatic transmission fluid (ATF) and screen filter service. The first service could be at 50K miles or 100K miles depending on use.

It sounds more like a power steering pump or the alternator

is it supercharged???

07 GT is supercharged.

I was thinking the same thing you are. :lol: I dont think thats the issue though because even with an open intake you don't hear the supercharger all the time.
