99 Civic SI

Anyone own this car ? Ive been looking for a few months now and the ones i do find are WELL over KBB price . Are they as fast as they are worked up to be. Also besides the 160hp engine , what are the special features of this car? Thanks .

all wheel disc brakes, close ratio tranny, motor, paint if it's blue, and the suspension i believe is better than the ex's

Does anyone have one of these cars , i cant seem to find anyone that owns one.

my frien does...not on this forum tho. they're over-rated. i/h/e only runs u into the mid 15's. nothin special...they have NO torque, an weigh too much for a civic...

hmm , yea Mid 15s isnt really that good for all the frustration/money of getting the SI , yet no honda realy does good 1/4 stock . the 97+ prelude is right next to the 99SIs in the 1/4 mile. SO many cars run th 1/4 in the same times , but 0-60 is a COMPLETLY different story.

I think the 99-00 SI is the nicest civic ever put out though, I think they are pretty quick. if youve owned fast cars before then you wouldnt be satisfied, but Iif its your first car it will impress you I think. I got a ride in a 00 a kid got on his 16th birthday and they pull pretty nice.

my friend bought a red si a couple of weeks ago. its pretty fast. i agree with KrNxRaCer00 it did feel a little bit heavy when i was driving it. he had it for a week then it got stolen in front of his house at around 12 noon.

yeah that shit is messed up. he didn't even get to really enjoy it. he was really happy with what he had bought and he already started to buy stuff for it. the second or third day he bought about $500 dollars on parts. now its all gone because of some asshole that didn't want to buy their own shit. good thign i have my car in the driveway at all times with a two way pager alarm and at night the gate is locked and my father's car or van blocking it in, so nobody can get it out. if i didn't do this my car would have been gone a long time ago in this neighborhood.

yea , boston does suck . Also what happened with his car being stolen . Did his insurance company reimburst. How did things work?

s2000, i mean the si's preludes and v6 accords are pretty quick for stock ide rather build my car into a fast car then buy it already fast

in the states...yes nicest civic. but it should be, it's the highest model of it. doesn't compare to the type r that us yankee's don't get :( .

as for no honda's being quick...completely agree w/ civichb. S2000 puts down NICE numbers STOCK. the new V6 accords also. wut about the nsx? the rsx? the ITR? yes they are acura, so if u meant ONLY honda, then ok, but still...:D

since he didn't make any payments they dealer told him if they found the car and its in a good enough conditon to keep it he can, but if it isn't then he doesn't have to pay the bank back. so he makes out whether he keeps the car or not.

Im sure id have more fun in the CTR but i like the looks of the SI more personally.

I wouldnt buy either of them though, unless a cheap SI came available.

I want a RSX type S, I like the TSX but the ass end looks too damn tall.

the si is a good car to begin with. i had a red one and wrecked it. now i got the blue one. when i first got it, it wasnt what i expected it to be. it was a very good civic compared to the rest of all the other civic in the states though. after moding it a lil here in there, and after the thousands of dollars i've put into it, its a goood v8 eater. speaking from a stock point of view though, its a good econo civic to get. a very good first car to buy. it'll get you from point A to point B, with good handling and power. very reliable in my opinion. but once the mods go in, oh man. thats when your car starts making noises here and there. then something goes out (if you want your car to last you for years and stay xtra reliable, dont mod). having owned two of them, i love em. :smoker2:

i like it quite a bit. only thing is, so does everyone else. someone tried to steal it and did 2600 dollars worth of damage to the door and steering column

red one with rota slips and a loud ass exhaust

black one with tsunami kit and 17s

mine, soon to have kosei K1s instead of my chrome TSWs

a slammed blue one with white konigs

and a bunch of bone stockers

So 15s is slow to you guys? and your SOHCs run 17s :rolleyes:

They are awesome cars for the money. They rev to 8k which makes them a blast to drive and they are the fastest productions civic you could buy at that time (and still are because they are slightly faster then the new Si's) They have awesome interiors, good suspension (although it is better lowered) and you cant beat them for the price.

LoL dont listed to these guys with their SOHC motos tell you the SI is over rated because compared to their cars the Si is like night and day...

With just an intake and a new clutch my car went 14.9 @ 89.9

I would like to see some of you with your SOHC motors do that without boost...the B16 motor has a lot of power (100 hp per liter) and is the most fun to drive car I have ever driven (and I have driven A LOT of cars in this class) If you want good fuel economy and a quick car its a good deal...

Thanks alot man , thats some useful info . its good to see people praisin some cars rather than others bashing cars left in right . it comes down to , what are "good " cars in their mind. I want to get an SI , but o so rare in my area if i find one , it would be one of my top choices.

ok, i own a DOHC VTEC motor, and I am saying the civic SI is overrated. btw...i'd like to see the slip of u running a [email protected] mph. wut was ur 60'? cuz thas a LOW speed for that number. not doubting, jus would like to know how.

did u lower tire pressure? on race fuel? were u at sea level? temperature (approx)

Seal Level and 105 Octane with lowered Psi, I have no reason to lie about my times, I would scan the slip but its in Orlando and I am in Ohio...It was a perfect run with a 2.2 60' and to this day (even with more mods) I cant break into 14s :(
