I decided to build this Honda little "monster" :) simply OOB.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/00.jpg

I hope that it will be quick build not as tiresome as ARTA NSX. I am also pretty sure that you will see CUB's WIPs of my polish colleagues.

What can we find in box? Here come pics:

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/09.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/10.jpg

Overall mold quality is very good as well as parts fitment.

Some dry fited parts

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/11.jpg

Ejector pin marks and places which are hard to reach and correct.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/19.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/13.jpg

I have started with basic cleanup and minor modifications which consist of:

1) New gearbox nuts changed from hex to cross type

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/12.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/16.jpg

2) Corrected part of the gearbox housing to fit nut

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/17.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/18.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/21.jpg

3) Modified knobs of bike side "housings"

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/14.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/ref1.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/15.jpg

Green arrow shows rescribed panel lines to make them look more real. Tamiya tape used to protect body while cutting knob off.

Hope you will like it. Stay tuned :)

Cool looking kit and the mods will look great, I'm sure.
You've got to have a Domino's Pizza top box on it!:smokin:

I really don't think this will be a quick build. I'm pretty sure we will be amazed as we were with the Arta. I love the subject matter, clearly a very original and cool project. I would love to have one in real. Looking forward to more progress.

Thank you for the all of the kind words...

I wouldn't like to disappoint you guys but I planned this model as a quick build without lots of modifications.

Will see. :)

Fujimi did not provided any chain or chain guard so on the first picture you can notice how bad it looks.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/22.jpg

Raal Cub has chain guard. So I build simple one using plastic sheet.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/23.jpg

I think I will keep it simple as it is. It looks pretty close to the real thing.

In the meantime I have dechromed wheels. They are clearcoated underneath so I need strip this layer as well. They are not perfect but I am sure I will manage to clean them up and achieve decent paint finish.

Short update - chain guard modified. I don't like sth in it don't know why and what...

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/24.jpg

Second attempt much better imho.

Not much time lately... Short update.

Right swing arm finished with a stripe of styrene instead of putty.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/27.jpg

Frame glued and primed. Some minor imperfections revealed.

Great job.... But where is the simple OOB project?

I would still call it AOOB (Almost OOB). Those little improvements I did are really small and simple. Still believe that it will be quick :runaround:

Macio4ever

Body finished and primed with Gunze Surfacer 1200. I will not go further with painting as I think that it would be more fit tests and some still undiscovered issues to address :) What's more I would like to maintain the same shade of paint for all of the panels.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/29.jpg
I continue with cleaning parts and now stopped at engine head. There are two big nuts which were oversimplified by Fujimi. I think I will replace them – those ones pointed by arrows.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/30.jpg

PS: I remember to keep it OOB :)

Just a quick update - front fork filled with Tamiya Epoxy Putty. Next it will be cleaned and primed.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/31.jpg

I am still at the cleaning stage so it is nothing fancy but stay tuned. Some more updates will be soon.

I can build OOB, I can, I.... :) :)

Short update:

Many of the parts are cleaned and primed. Still chromed ones left. I think I may use some of them as they are without my own re-chroming.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/32.jpg

Next step is to check them for any surface imperfections, correct if any and prepare for color painting.

New swing arm shaft (nut) - it was easier to use plastic rod than clean old one. 1 minute job.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/34.jpg

Small correction on the dampers. I have cut small groove to simulate clearance between damper parts (white arrow).

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/33.jpg

If I had a lathe that would be a fun...

Short update. M.Boy teased me few times and I did another small mod - oil cap. Maybe it is too small comparing to pictures...

You're going to have to do some exceptional masking when you paint the engine on this little puppy, but you will pull it off as usual :grinyes::grinyes:.

True, masking was a major PITA :banghead: The outcome is pretty OK and I have had to do only one paint correction.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/43.jpg

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/44.jpg

I have added engine nuts, new oil cap. Carburator is glued in place as well as air intake. Now working on rear shocks and trunk (not sure if it is a right word...)

Headlight finished:

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/CUB/57.jpg

I have started wheels. clean up as well. Inner parts have been already painted because painting it after completion would be PITA. I have used Gunze SM Chrome Silver.
Both wheel parts were cleaned up and glued with CA. I believe that most of the "monk job" is still ahead of me. I will have to get rid of a seam line of the glued two halves. I hope that CA will flood most of it.
