well, thats your opinion and youre entitled to it.
however, if porsches are manhood subsitutes then that can be said of just about all sports cars, so i dont agree with that statement
the fact that there seem to be 40 year old guys driving porsches is simply due to the fact that they are expensive cars and people cannot usually afford them until later in their careers in the periods of success. that can be said of pretty much all expensive cars. you dont see too many kids driving around in Porsches and Ferrari's, not here anyway.

shit id take a M3 over a WRX anyday too, but thats only if money is no object. if i had to buy either one, id buy a WRX and mod the shit out of it with the money left that i would of have to spent on the M3. dont get me wrong i love both these cars, but to make n1m3 happy, its true i like the M3 better, for obvious reasons, its much more faster stock, and its a lot more luxurious. but since i already own 4 cars of my own anyway, i think im gonna pass on both the WRX and M3, for now at least. besides with a 240SX like mine, who needs another car!!!:silly2:

we should be getting the EVOs soon from what I understand, and as good at the WRX's and as much as I want one an M coupe is still my car of choice and the fact that you are even having to pull the $50,000 M3 to compare the $24,000 WRX proves how good the WRX is. if I paid twice as much for a car and it DIDENT do better I would be pissed.

Again when you compare these cars, money becomes a major factor and as always the wrx would win. You could buy three wrx's and they could all be modified and still would be cheaper then a M3. The M3 is a great car, it's a bimmer so that's what you would expect, but it only suits some people and when it's pissing down outside let's see which car is faster:) . Driving around the city. going around tight/small corners, let's see which car is more practable. The M3 is more of a touring car, the wrx a boy racer type car. But! If money isn't a factor, why would you buy a M3? buy 5 ferrari's and drive one for each day:p .

anywho. i would buy a wrx because i live by mountain. snows so its better. i would get a m3 if i live in california or somewhere where there is no snow.

your a lil wrong about that statement border_project, i live in Northern California up in the Redwoods and a M3 wouldn't survive on the roads i drive on a daily basis. but u are absolutly right about getting a WRX for the mountains, i work at our local Subaru dealership and drive WRX's pretty much drive WRX's everyday for fun. my co-workers and I race them around the parking lot and around town when we are not busy. this summer when i probably sell both my 240SX and my RX-7, i'll either buy me a WRX or an Audi A4 1.8T. ive driven both, but its too hard to decide on which one, i think im pushing more on the WRX's side since it's much more powerful. i need an AWD car since my Nissan pick-up since its only RWD, and i love to snowboard from late November to April if the snow is awesome up at Tahoe, or Shasta. which of these two cars would u take, or recommend to me?

ok this is completely off the topic of the forum, but i have a question for you rezdog....i'm thinkin of maybe getting a 94-96 240sx and swapping an sr20det into it. what version of the sr20det should i get? i've read a few places that it doesnt really matter, i could get the s14 or s13 and put a few mods on it and it would be more powerful than the s15 spec r. and also, they're pretty reliable engines right? if you have any other general information, rather than posting (or post if you want to, no matter) could you email me if its not too much trouble? the earlier version sr20det's from the s13 silvias and 180sx's have a high port head that is better for ultimate power production, but the s14 and s15's have variable intake timing and the s15 has 444cc injectors as opposed to s13 and s14 having 370cc. for a stock motor or a daily driver, an s14 or s15 motor is better due to the better stock turbo and the variable intake timing, but for pure power production, the s13's high port head is better.

If you get really desperate for emissions, just go to a junkyard, find some crashed cars, and take their catalytic converters. Weld them together in a really crappy way, pass emissions, then put on your own exhaust after.
Really time consuming and a big headache, but it would work (here it would anyway)

if u purchase an entire front clip instead of just the motor, then u will have a/c (if the silvia youre getting the clip from had a/c) also with a front clip u get all the wiring harnesses, hoses and piping, and everything else u need, and u get to see how it all sits in the engine bay, its a lot easier than just buying a motor. look in the new issue of sport compact car they have a whole article on building a 240sx into a silvia, and ive been researching it a lot lately cuz i think when i get a little money built up im gonna build one. im gonna use the s13 motor, and upgrade the turbo system and injectors cuz its pretty much just gonna be a race car and play around car for me, but if it was gonna be my daily driver i would probably get the s14 or s15 cuz its a better stock motor.

and as for emissions, i dunno try what chris said, i dont have to worry about emissions around here :D
