Does anyone know where I can find schematics for how to replace the actuator on the front passenger door for a 2002 Malibu? I have removed the panel but can't seem to figure out the door latching/power window mechanism.
Thanks in advance....JP:tongue:

You might try the Autozone website as they have some repair jobs illustrated , not sure about that one ? The window mechanism and the door locking mechanism should be separate units and not connected ? I have replaced several window regulators but never one on a 2002 Malibu . I replaced two on my 1999 Old's Intrigue and it should be similar if not exactly the same . There will be a couple of bolts that secure the window glass to the regulator . You need to use some duct tape or similar device to hold the window in the full up position after you remove the two screws mentioned so it won't fall down into the door and possibly break !There will be an electrical connection to be separated and there should be 4 bolts holding the regulator in place . Usually the bolt holes are slotted so removing the bolts isn't necessary - simply loosen them so you can lift the unit up and out of the bolt slots . Carefully maneuver the regulator out of the door being careful not to cut yourself on any of the sharp metal edges ! Compare your old unit with the new unit to be sure they are the same . The rest of the job is simply a reverse of the procedures used to remove the unit . Note * -- When you have the unit reinstalled but before you put the door panel back on , try the window to see if it works . Also clean all tape residue off the window and surrounding areas before operating the window so it isn't smeared on all the window channels . It really isn't too difficult a job , just take your time and if you think you may not remember how it all goes back together , take digital pictures before you start and at each step of the process ! Good luck !
