A little background: Alex's ultimate dream car is a 94-96 Impala SS. He's always been into the big cars etc. Right now he has a 92 Buick Roadmaster. It's seen better days, needs some interior and exterior work, however it runs like a charm and it's sooooo nice on long roadtrips. Well he thought maybe if he found an Impala with good body but maybe a bad motor and tranny he could pull the motor/tranny from the Roadmaster, and put it in the Impala.
So yesterday he came across an ad in the AutoTrader for an Impala SS for $6500 in good condition...and it was located about a mile from my house. So he went to go check it out last night. Long story short: It's really a Caprice with Impala badging and wheels, cloth interior, dents up the wazoo and a $20 peeling black paint job. The guy thought he was smart too by telling Alex to come around 7:30, after the sun would be mostly down so you couldnt see all the flaws. Alex said from a block away it looked nice but getting closer revealed it wasn't. He didn't even spend 5 minutes there. People who try to pass off stuff like that need to have a good hurting bestowed upon them
So how's your day going?

I got taken for a ride in my last car (the Escort) no pun intended :lol2:
It was July of 93 and I found an ad in the paper for a 93 Escort for $9000 with 5000 miles on it. The dealers were charging $13K-16K depending on the the model...mine was a GT. Long story short...the guy said the car was perfect, he was selling it cheap because he was in the military and getting transferred out of state. The car drove perfect and straight and there were no obvious signs of previous damage, except for a few key decorative pieces (GT stuff) missing, but I didn't know better :( So when my title arrived in the mail I found it said "salvage". I drove to his house to confront him but when I got there the place was completely empty with a "for rent" sign up in the front yard. THe number was also disconnected. Then a few months later I was rear ended in it and the left rear quarter panel shattered...can you say bondo sculpture? So after further investigation, I found out I was the 4th owner. Owner #1 was a rental car company. Owner #2 was a place that salvages/resells vehicles, owner #3 was the guy I bought it from, then I was #4. I hope this guy gets an eternal rash you know where

I know how you all feel. It's not just joe-schmoe on the street who does it either. I got my lude from a used car place in Mississippi, and like with most of the messages I've seen here, it ran great, looked great, no problem. No accidents or anything on their records of it. I got it home after moving, and it started acting up. Got her fixed, no big deal. Then I decided to see how hard it would be to pull up my carpeting to re-dye it, and I found all kinds of glass cubes and shards littering all of the gaps and spaces under the carpeting. My poor baby had been a major accident (too much glass for a simple window break, this was windshield glass, just shattered). So needless to say, she'll be going into the garage soon for a complete "check up".
