Here is my 1/12 Matra MS-11, Ferrari F1-2000 and Yamaha YZR500. Feel free to comment, they're appreciated!

Since I have been chastised for not speaking more about my subjects, here is a bio on them:

The Matra is the Tamiya kit with a ton of stuff added to it. Robrex was nice enough to turn the gauges for a great looking dash. Quite a bit of detail was added to the brakes, hubs, and suspension as well. In the engine area, the wing supports were scratch built using thin piano wire, simulated corrugated tubing was used and exhaust clamps were made out of very small springs that were found in a "junk" pile. (You never know what you'll need...) The fuel distributor and tubing were scratch built along with the velocity stack covers. A bunch of other p/e, Calibre 35 resin nut/bolt/washers were used and Archer Fine Details rivets were used on the body and throughout the model.

The F1-2000 was made with the Top Studio detail set. It was one of my first highly detailed F1 builds. The TS kit is great to use and makes a great build. Wiring, plumbing, and other sensors, etc., were added as appropriate and can be seen as such.

The Yamaha is really my pride and joy. I scratch built all detail on the kit (except for the chain, which is the Hobby Design P/E set) including all nose electronics, the throttle linkages, etc. The 500s are really fun builds, except for the exhausts . Those are a real pain to get right! I finally used Kosutte Gin San, masked, then used Tamiya's "orange rust" "make up" over it to give it a "gold" tone. I then painted a small black "ring" around each of the masked areas, removed the mask and then (not being satisfied with the outcome) I put a small strip of aluminum tape around the previously masked strip to simulate the real thing. It does turn out well. I've really (although it's not in these pics, I'm hoping to get more soon) heavily detailed and added a bunch of stuff to the engine compartment under the fuel tank. These 500s are a "blank canvas" on which you can "paint" to your heart's desire. Really fun kits and cheap to pick up as well.

They look good.

You will get more response for each of them if you put them each in their own thread. Say what the build is in the thread title, and tell us about your build. What kit, what scale, what you did, what you like, what you don't like, what you learned, what you would do different.

Generally speaking, the more words you use to talk about your work, the more words people will use in response. If you have nothing to say about your work, no one else likely will either. :disappoin Forum threads are a conversation. If you won't converse with other people, they won't have a conversation with you.

And get rid of the thumbnail links. :banghead: Use proper images in your post, or don't bother posting. By convention, people in this community strongly prefer images. I'm sure you've noticed this by now. If you make people click links and wait for images to load, many won't bother. If you make it hard for people to look at your builds, they won't look at your builds- no matter how good or bad they are. If you really don't like using images, you might be happier in another forum.

Thanks, MPWR. I've tried linking without luck and thus this is about the only way I can find to do it. I've messed around trying several different ways but haven't figured it out. Plus, when the main way to upload pics in the posting area leads to this, then why is it so wrong?

I don't get the whole thing about not liking thumbs, but that's a point we'll just disagree on. I don't mind it but I guess others do. Maybe it's just this forum (others on other forums haven't said a word and give much more feedback...)? Or, as you say, I'll just stop posting...

EDIT: Finally figured this out. If the thumbs are so hated by everyone that they won't look, then why even keep it as an option on the posting page? Just remove it...This other way is so freaking cumbersome...

Oh wow, you're actually hosting your images on AF? I didn't know that could be done anymore.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=42817&d=1304024314

Anyway, right click any full size image view. Select Copy Image Location. Then, in the window that you're writing your text, select this iconhttp://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/editor/insertimage.gif. A small text box will pop up. Paste the address location for the image you saved in the text line. Click OK, and the image will appear when you submit your post. (Some image hosting services make this even simpler- photobucket is pretty good.)

As to why, it's simply what people prefer. It makes it easier to read threads. For anyone without a dialup internet connection (most of the civilized world), it's faster than using thumbnails.

Every community has its rules and conventions. Some make sense, some might not. Sometime in the middle of the last decade, the discussion was had about what people as a majority here prefer.

We like full size pics
We like English
We don't like AIMspeak, l33t or other internet shorthand
We don't like spam, etc etc.

And of course the mod staff gets the pleasure of making sure that everyone is aware of the rules and conventions, and that they follow them. Sure, rules and conventions can be changed- but established rules/conventions will change only when there is real need to do so, or when a significant majority of members want such a change. Meanwhile, we all get along best by following the standards.

just so you know and for reference; I was looking at this on my mobile while not signed in and saw that when you had about 100 views on the thread, while some had clicked to view the image, no one had viewed any one image more than 9 times.

that makes it, at that point, less than 10% having clicked on any thumbnail.

oh my god those were fun to look at. I dont think you can get half the detail/work you put into them into the pictures. Good Job

I know--that's my point. It just seems weird that people won't take the 2 seconds it takes to click on an image. I do. I don't see the problem. But I'm not of the instant-in-your-face generation, either. (I'm that age but don't subscribe to that philosophy.) Maybe most here are and that's fine. I am stating I don't get it. It's just as good (you can even go from one to another while in the viewer), just not instantaneous.

If you want EVERYONE to use the other way, can you try and make that easier to do? IE Host the pics and make it so that when you use the "manage uploads" section, you can actually get them straight into the message and NOT into thumbs? I think THAT is the answer, not going about this piece-meal. Just my $0.02.

Also, I tried but couldn't--can you guys change the thread title to "COMPLETE: Matra MS-11, Yam YZR500, Ferrari F1-2000"?

Thank you, RX7king! You are right, it's very difficult to capture everything in pics. I have to rely on others to take good pics because I'm horrible at that!
