Hi folks new to the board.

I bought a 1995 Contour fer me Lady Friend.

Checked the brakes 90%; bearings great; changed oil; 132,000 miles and VERY clean... straight and runs very good. :grinyes:

It would do a little black smoke when she first fired up n' run a little ragged so I changed the fuel filter n' that seemed ta cure that issue.

I gotta find someone with a scope so I can check the corndition of the spark plugs n' wires, (wires n' cap look good as does the air filter), I may jus' change 'em (platinum plugs go 60,000 I hear tell).

Here is me only issue: the check engine light cums on from time to time.... The previous owner claimes this is an "issue" with the 1995 first generation Fords.... or sooo his mechanic said... maybe... maybe not....

The codes are "DTC 111" which means nothing..... (I think anyhoo)..

press another button fer the memory and:

DTC 176 "insufficient O2 sensor" whatever that means....

press again and:

DTC 332 "insufficient EGR signal" whatever that means...

After I changed the fuel filter n' ran some Seafoam n' Chevron injector cleaner, (separate tanks of gas), she is runnin' reeeeel sweet...

What say you big guns on this site?

Thanks in advance.... fer yer help :icon16:
