JDM Engines

I look on Ebay and see JDM engines for my 89 Si listed with 50-60k miles. I don't get it. What is it about the Japanese market that they put 60k miles on an engine in 22 years. Is this legit? Does anyone have experience with JDM engines/transmissions or ecu packages?

they don't have the same smog laws over there. Car comes off the road by 60k. Research it ;-)

That has been going on for years since the 80s. In Japan 60,000 miles or a couple of years they are required to junk them. They send the engines here. I use to buy Toyota, Honda etc engines for $300 in the 80s with 60,000 or less miles. Just drop them in fire them up & drive. What are they costing now??

It's totally legit, haven't you seen the pictures of some of those engine warehouses? They have these B-Series motors on stockpile. Yes, maybe the motor has sat for some time but 9 times out of 10 they will fire up!

I don't think I'd buy a motor from eBay. Those could have been abused multiple times over. It's been a long long while since I got mine. But Osaka Motors rings a bell? Very clean, A+ condition.
