I want to make some realistic looking racing harnesses, any ideas on what to use?

You can get photo-etch sets for racing harnesses from DetailMaster, Reji, ScaleMotorsports, Studio27 and several other manufacturers.
Have a look on:
www.scaledreams.com
www.mediamixhobby.com.sg
www.hlj.com

It is a lot easier to but a P/E set than to try to make some.

I was just gonna make a post about it last night. I was thinking about using masking tape, but I don't know how to make the little buckles and stuff.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I used masking tape for some but it doesnt look very strap like. For the buckles use styrene.

What, do you guys think you're too good to read my posts?
I answered you above, get the photo etch sets, they come with photo etch parts for the BUCKLES, and usually come with some sort of material to make the belts.
If they don't, you can get any number of items to make belts with, from coffee filter paper through to narrow sewing ribbon.

I was at Walmart yesterday and I found something that should work from their 'craft' section. It's a really narrow ribbon that looks just right for seat belts and/or harnesses in 1:24 scale. It's not 'plastic' ribbon like gifts are wrapped with. It's cloth ribbon so it looks really nice. They have lots of different colors. I got red, blue, and black. It's got a 'weave' to it that looks alot like the real thing.

The brand is Offray and it comes in a spool of 10 yards (9+ meters). It's 1/8" wide (3mm), so that would scale out to about 3" or 7.2cm in 1:24 scale. I haven't used it yet, but it looks pretty good for $0.59 Canadian.

You'd still have to make the buckles, etc. but my experience is that those are easier to make realistic than the belt itself.

SWEET:D Gonna have to get me some of that stuff. GTmike400, you said to use styrene. I heard someone cut out pieces from a pop can? I guess you can use just about anything:D Buying the photo-etched set is easier and you get a perfect racing harness but they're pretty expensive. But it's fun tryin to make your own stuff.....fun and challenging;)
