I was pulling out of a parking space like usual and when I put the car in drive, it kept going in reverse?!?! I tried braking but it wouldn't stop going in reverse down a sloping parking lot!! I had to jump out.

I didn't hit anyone or any car but I hit the wall of a parking lot. Thank god I had the sense to jump out of the car when nothing else was working. This car is basically new - theres barely 2000 miles on it. I'm a good driver with no history of accidents. I don't even have a parking ticket to my name. I've been driving for only 2 years though. I'm 19 years old.

What do I do? My parents dont believe me and if they cant believe me, how is anyone else? What steps can I take from here??

They can check codes from the car to see what caused it. If you turned off the car and restarted it already then they are prolly gone. Also if the car was in reverse and you jumped out you are lucky the door didn't knock you down and and the car run you over.

I guess I didn't even think about that but the door did push me back. I turned off the car after it came to a stop. Is this completely my fault?? If I took the car to a mechanic, would he be able to find a reason for why this happened?

not sure but I would not take it to a nissan mechanic if I did. They will say it was your fault 100%. THey dont want any law suits or recalls. I guess just wait for someone else to reply to this thread and see what they say.

At low speeds you could have put the transmission in park with no damage to the transmission.
If there is a problem with your brakes, it should be identifiable by a experienced tech. Although the damage is still your responsibility, if there is a problem with the system, the dealer will have to warranty your claim.
