Opened up the console one day and the lid just kept going backwards until it snapped. Already had it replaced once due to an accident. Replacement fell apart inside of two years. Probably just cheap plastic.
Looking at the problem now, it appears that the only way to swap this piece out is to drill out the two rivets in the pic. There doesn't seem to be anything else holding this in place.
Anyone have any thoughts?

I think the lid and container are one piece. see if you can get this at the scrap yard.

I agree with jcAT as far as the lid being one piece with the console itself. I myself drilled out those rivets as i needed to get the lid off of my 2000 Silverado, but nothing budged.

Well.. I got curious.. Decided to drill out one rivet... You were right, Kenny, that's not the way to go... LOL
Believe it or not, this may be less complicated than I was trying to make it, jc. The old, broken lid left the spring assembly behind. Only thing holding the assembly together was a single pivot rod passing through the whole thing. Have to take a look at a complete one for review. Will let you know how this shakes out...

A new jumpseat console like that should be less than $90 (what I paid for a full length one out of a Tahoe) our of a junkyard.
