hello all, just fixed the dreadded po300, and po171 on my 1998 monte carlo z34 3.8l engine by replacing a coil and fuel pressure regulator(caused a vaccum leak causing st n lt fuel trim to spike......sounds odd to me but.....). now after clearing codes and driving for about 2 weeks at about 75-100 miles a week i still cant get the im monitors to show ready. more specificaly the o2 , o2 heater, evap, egr, and cat. Im pretty sure that in ny and this year of car there only has to be 4 im monitors ready to pass the obd2 test.
also i get a po141 heated o2 sensor code intermittantli, only set a hard code once out of a handfull of times. i checked the circut no problems found, both sensors....bank 1 sensor 1 n 2 are cycling well on the scan tool with crisp peeks n vallies. could ther be an intermintant problem with sensor 2(heated) that is causing the im monitor problems? i as always appriciate your responces, and thank you all.
Dave

Dave, ( former No Bellmore resident here), hard codes can prevent some or all of the monitors to reset if the code is set during the drive cycle. Do you have a pending or present code in the system, have you followed the prescribed drive cycle?

no but i keep getting the p0141 but not as a hard code......i got to have a break in the wire i think because this is a true intermintant problem. i did go through the gm drive cycle, let the car cool and go throught it again.........nothing. its gotta be either the o2 heater or the abs somehow interfearing with everything( oh btw yea the abs light is intermittantly on ) thanks

Yeah, spent 30 years in N. Bellmore, it is very quiet up here in the mountains. The abs has no affect on the monitors.
