GM/Lear key fob for my 02 Yukon

My Yukon came with this key fob, the square part that says 'GM Accessories' is needed to start my car, you wave it under the steering wheel and it scans the card. The scanner or the GM Accessories card is bad because it isn't reading, therefore i can't start my car. I was told that 'they' simply put this GM Accessories sticker on it, but it isn't GM. Has anyone heard of this?
