Have a 1995 olds bravada. pretty sure I need to replace the starter ( big time not a mechanic) where exactly do I pull it from under the vehicle after I've located it? there are two alan screws holding on what I assume ids the solenoid and two much larger screws that seem to hold the entire assembly in place located underneath.

I buy a Haynes repair manual for my vehicles when I first buy them to get up quick on DIY backyard jobs, such as your starter issue.
Later, I buy a factory service manual for more detailed info.
First off #1, raise your Bravada & support it with jackstands. A squished Bravada owner is a sad mechanic.
Disconnect both cables from your battery. You don't want to ground any hot wires in close quarters under a vehicle.
Take the big bolts loose to lower the starter.
Now you'll be able to see the nuts connecting the wires to the starter, take them off after taking notice which color wires go where.
I replace the entire starter nowadays.

Any suggestions for getting the nuts that hold the wires in place off.? having a harder time with that than anything else.

Nut driver set. They look like screwdrivers w/sockets on the ends.
I find myself using them fairly regular.

Ok. Is thee a wiring diagram somewhere thats available to make sure I hook it back up right? I could swear I'm missing something. But maybe that's just me.

If you have a digital volt-ohm meter(DVOM), ground the neg. lead on the starter housing.
The service manual shows the purple wire going to the solenoid so that post should show resistance with the DVOM)
The black wire shows an open circuit until the solenoid is activated so the DVOM should show an open circuit on the post where the black wire connects, all help gratefully accepted.

Before you get too involved, you might want to double check the year of the vehicle, Olds did not build Bravada in 1995, (too many problems with the OBD system). Wiring schematics are different depending on the year of the vehicle.
