I have tried using the Dremel suplied felt buffing and polishing wheels but they gum up and turn themselves into sanding drums very quickly. Anyone have any ideas of something else to get the job done besides my finger.

A lot of people will tell you that using a motorized polishing pad is risky idea. A guy named Cesar Bossolani posted a youtube video of a very successful polishing job using a motorized polishing pad. I don't know name of the pad he used. He posts on this forum. You should send him a PM.

THX, I will take a look at the video in a bit. As for compound, I tried the ole toothpaste trick at first and that took a few seconds before it gummed up the pad and I tried some Meguiars scratch x 2 as well. It took a little longer to gum up but eventually did in the end. I think if you can control the pressure and watch the areas you are doing you shouldn't have much of a problem with the dremel, well that and a decent pad. You use the same type of tools on a larger surface of a real car. They just spin a little slower than this dremel can, which means don't stay in one place and don't put too much pressure on it. I did cut a piece of flannel and that was working until it lost grip on the wheel, smacked me in the face and asked WTH I was thinking lol.
