05' ignition question

Hello all
Have a 05' with about 90,000 miles.
Had the temp overheating problem, come to find out was a bad design in
head gasket they used on this year model. We got that fixed, better milage
and she runs good now.
My question/problem now is with starting up the vehicle. This belongs to the
wife, she was having to crank on it 2-3 times before it would fire up. Finally I looked at it, when you turn the key on, like you are going to start it, could not hear the fuel pump being energized. Turn key to "off", then back "on", nothing. On the 3rd or 4th time you can hear pump working and it starts like normal.
At times while going on an off, trying to hear the pump, can notice the lights on dash lights up as normal, but the fuel gage does not move, turn off an on again, the gage starts to work. Seems like turning the key all the way on, to start position, does not energize everything as normal.

Now last night the key started getting stuck in ignition, she has been using the newest key, so I thought the old key should work better, being wore somewhat, after putting it in ignition, liked to never got it out. It was stuck in there like you super glued it, ha!

Has anyone ever had this happen, and do ya'll think the whole ignition
mechinism needs replaced. A little cleaning will not help this one.

Thanks for any an all replies, and if you need more info on this, please
feel free to ask,
Thanks again
Rob

TSB Number: 07012004 NHTSA Number: 10013167

Check the above TSB. Your problem seems to match.

As for the starting issue...we have had the same problem from time to time. Never getting worse..just happens now and then.

Going through the head gasket problem right now.

Still have an airbag issue...but that's for down the road.

Thanks for the reply and the info, the problem is with the key itself, getting
stuck in key ignition cyclinder. Goes into park fine.
And having to turn key on an off a few times before hearing fuel pump
energize an start working.

You think this cable adjustment is part of my on-going problem with
key getting stuck in ingition, and power to fuel pump?

I looked up the TSB # on safercar.gov, is there a better site to use?

Thanks for the help with this,
Rob
