This is one that I had started long ago that I never got around to documenting.
I had finished up the interior+chassis...

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq4L3kQbI/AAAAAAAAAUY/B6WeR3TxAHs/Italeri%20250%20gto%20011.JPG
but what's this I hear you ask?
Why didn't you fix the lower half of the nose before you painted the body?
Well, I did.
It broke when I first tried to fit the chassis underneath.
In adding the oil radiatior to the front, I was about 1mm too long for the chassis to fit now and that was enough to cause it to break when I tried to squeeeze it through.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq5-WQnOI/AAAAAAAAAUc/2fxBbjGoLA8/Italeri%20250%20gto%20012.JPG
So fixing time.
Step one: cement parts together.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq5h06hXI/AAAAAAAAAUg/7XQIdikAKRc/Italeri%20250%20gto%20013.JPG
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq6Wj9RgI/AAAAAAAAAUk/tp7SbDrszak/Italeri%20250%20gto%20014.JPG
Step two: sand down to primer at joint.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq8PsvfnI/AAAAAAAAAUo/taoXZH2YXBc/Italeri%20250%20gto%20015.JPG
Step three: add some white surface primer to fill gaps, then sand.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq9CRZ5SI/AAAAAAAAAUs/XzEZpngMxmQ/Italeri%20250%20gto%20016.JPG
Step four: mask off everything.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyq9R4W4MI/AAAAAAAAAUw/90HNjg_GdLo/Italeri%20250%20gto%20018.JPG
After a couple of coats of paint this is how it looks.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TZyqwg4tV5I/AAAAAAAAATw/_UXZRtcTfoI/Italeri%20250%20gto%20021.JPG
Not bad for a first attempt.
The paint needs work to blend in properly and it doesn't 100% match but considering I had resigned myself to junking the body, this isn't half bad.
Just got to let it cure fully then sand then I'll try to fit the chassis underneath it again...

DM,
I've noticed the TS paints are a bit translucent. The thicker the paint the darker it gets. No guarantees but the slight mismatch might disappear as you feather the new paint into the old.

I suspect I might have to do so.
Part of the problem is that I didn't sand everything in the area down to primer; only where the join is so there is colour mismatch between paint over red and paint over white primer.
I took off the masking because I have a bad experience with leaving cling film on a painted body and in part to check on the colour match.
Next step might be to sand back a bit and then mask off just the join part.
This is the first time I've used bmf as the first masking step and I'm impressed by just how fine the edge is.

BTW Beautiful recovery, once polished out noone will know.

Well, this did sit on a shelf for about 3 months before I got back to it.
Normally, I work on the car body way in advance of actually building the kit so of anything went wrong, I could just ditch the car body and hunt for a replacement.
In this case though, I really was at the very last part of mating body to chassis and just couldn't bring myself to "box" the build. Of course that did just make things even worse but it also made me feel more inclined to fix/finish it.
I toyed with the idea of buying a Fujimi kit that made no sense what-so-ever so I figured I see how fixing the break and paint would go.
I do have so many kits in various stages of being built and I was and still am determined to finish them before starting another one.

ok.
decided to add another layer of paint and after leaving it to cure, this is how it is.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_CiFVeDwpZmA/TbF9MASeflI/AAAAAAAAAW8/cuNxWGYDt2o/Italeri%20250%20gto%20022.JPG
as you see, the chassis is in place which is what really matters to me right now.
the paint repair isn't 100% but to be honest, i didn't take as much care as I should have.
Just got to fix the clear parts and the trim on them then it's another one ticked off the "incomplete list".

It's easy to get fixated on the pristine state of today's pampered "classics". Back in the day when the 250 GTO was a hard-campaigned race car, _Ferrari_ didn't take that much care of the paint, nor did _most_ of the privateers. You can always say that it suffered a bit of nose damage in a close encounter on the track, and has some resprayed and filled parts.
I often think if someone made a 60s race car model with the finish that those cars really had on the track, no one would believe it, and it'd certainly not win any competitions, despite being a prefect replica in miniature! Check out "Races, Faces, Places" or any of the "Sports Car Racing in Camera" books if you want to see what I mean!
bestest,
M.

right after long enough, I finally pulled all of the little bits out of the little ziplock baggie and re-attached them to the body.
some quick dirty shots done in the conservatory then I can call this one "finished".
