Hey guys and gals. Thought I'd just write a quick note to introduce myself here. I followed a link from another forum and WOW was I impressed. I build a bit of everything, but cars seem to be the most common on the shelf (most are unbuilt).

I don't have a digital camera yet, and besides, I don't really have alot of finished kits yet either. But, here's a recent one I completed. It's the Gunze Sangyo Ferrari 250 GTO Low-Tech kit (all plastic, curbside). Scratch built hood pins, hood buckles, and replaced kit glass. Other than that it's pretty much from the box.

Looking forward to the forum.

Murray

Sure. I was on the Hobby Heaven forum (more hot rods) and another member there posted a link to some of the pics posted here. I was very impressed and decided to give it a try.

Jomnhta,

Yep, that's the one. What a great contest. I really enjoyed meeting so many new people and seeing some great models!! Did I meet you there??

I dunno if you have meet me, but I am the one who brought the Pearl White 350Z.

I think yours should be a winner.
One question, what paint did you use on the steering wheel.

Murray Kish

Ah! I remember that one! I thought you did an amazing job with the pearl. It stood out on the tables very nicely. I also thought your panel lines were superb. Very clean and realistic! I wasn't actually able to stay for the entire day on Saturday (had to leave Calgary around 11:00am), and some fellow club members from Saskatoon picked up my car and brought it home with them.

Did you see the guy who had a working car alarm (and flashing lights etc) in his custom? I think it was a truck of some sort, but it was really awesome. Amazing stuff on the tables.

As for the steering wheel on my GTO, it's basically pretty simple. I sprayed the whole thing black to begin with, and then rubbed some SNJ polishing powder onto the 'spokes' to make it sorta chrome looking. Then I painted the center black and the outside a medium flat brown color (from an old testors bottle I had sitting around). I painted the center with a yellow circle, and applied the decal. The last thing I did was take a razor blade and scrape around the edge of the steering wheel. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the intention was to make it look like there was an inset piece of metal or something there. To finish, I dipped the entire thing in Future and let it dry. The end result looked like leather and I was pretty happy with it. Not sure if I could repeat it, but I'll take what I got.

Thanks for the nice comments. Hopefully I'l be able to build a few more and get some pics on AF. For now, I'm totally enjoying the builds of the other people here. I wish I could do some of the things I see here!

Here is a thread for my 350Z.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=102721

Use the search function in the forum and search my username. I have put up a few completed models here.

I saw that truck with alarm and its awesome.
But I really don't think that CLK-GTR on the mirror deserve a win. It is not detail and the decal is wrong.

That's the one! Nice job. I REALLY like your photography. The black background looks really cool. Looks like it could be in a brochure.

What did the CLK win (was that the one with a zillion decals)? I had to leave early so I don't know the results of the contest at all. I've been waiting for them to post the results on the website, but it doesn't seem to be up yet? I know that I won something for my car, but I have no idea what yet. I haven't had a chance to connect with the other Saskatoon guys yet, so I don't even have the car at my house yet!! I'm sure they're taking good care of it.

Thanks for your comment .. :)

Ya, the one with many decals ... I am not sure what he won but saw a prize sitting beside when I came back ( I didn't stay there too :silly2: )

I though out of the box should be a stock class ... :D
Next time, I should build a detailed Enzo there....haha.
