2001 GTP - Two Different Sounds

The first and most concerning sound is when I start the car up usually after it has been sitting overnight. There is a loud ticking noise that eventually goes away. It goes faster when I push the accelerator and I am assuming it might have something to do with the lifters. I will post a sound clip so that you guys can hear it but in the meantime where would I start in troubleshooting this sound? Sucks because I just changed the valve cover gaskets two weeks ago. :(

The second sound I believe is coming from the supercharger. It doesn't always make the sound and I recently changed the supercharger oil to see if that would stop the sound but it did not. When I put my hand on the supercharger nose I can feel vibration that could be inside of the supercharger but it could be the pulley as well. I will also post a clip of this sound too.

What do you guys think so far?

You can try removing the serpentine belt and move by hand each pulley, if they don't feel smooth, feel "brushy" or make a grinding sound then you've found a bearing going out.

The second thing, with the belt removed you can start the engine (only for a short time because the pump is not rotating and the engine will overheat) and see if one or both noises are gone, if that's the case then your engine and lifters are OK and the problem is related to belt driven accessories.

Supercharger front bushing can wear out- allowing fins to contact housing, causing a scraping noise.

As stated above, take belt off supercharger and see it noise abates.

does the supercharger "vibrate" or is it a rattling noise? The coupler between the nose drive and the sc have been known to crack causing a rattling noise. the good thing is that you dont have to remove the sc if it is a coupling.

I was just reading about the supercharger coupling issue yesterday. That may be what this is because it's more of a rattling but when I put my hand on the supercharger itself I can feel a slight vibration that coincides with the sound that I hear. I also believe the supercharger only makes this sound while the car is idle. It appears to go away when I excellerate but I'm not positive only because obviously I am hearing the engine rev so maybe it's still going on during excelleration. I work full time and I'm going back to college full time (At 38 yrs old) so I wasn't able to take the time that I needed to in order to record the two sounds that I am hearing. I want to post the sound not only for myself but for any others that come visit this board in the future.

You can always pull it out and look at it. Drain the oil from the snout. All you have to do to remove the snout is remove the alternator and coolant recovery tank. The sc does not have to be removed. The snout bolts are 10mm if i remember correctly from when i did mine. They make a high strength coupler that runs about 30 bucks or so and you will need 2 bottle of sc oil for the refill.

I had the supercharger coupler noise issue. It was only present during idle. It was embarrassing going through the White Castle drive through. It's a couple hours job. Not bad at all. You do have to seal the snout back on the supercharger though.
