My 96 Cherokee 4dr has been having issues with the dash lights ever since i accidentally hit a light pole in a parking lot. the damage to the bumper was kinda bad (a fairly severe dent) and have not had time to take things apart and find out what's wrong
The dent is on the drivers side, impacted about 3/4 of an inch in the center, the dent is about 3 or 4 inches wide.
The odd thing is, when i pull the light switch out halfway, the running lights and the dash lights come on, and only one headlight comes on, but when i pull the switch full on, the dash lights and the running lights shut off, but it the signals and the headlights work fine. possibly a short? just looking for a general idea of what's wrong here.
Will post pictures when i have time.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You may have a bad/loose ground wire somewhere (probably in the front end), and/or a short in the wiring harness where only one headlight comes on. My guess is the impact shock knocked something loose.
You could confirm this by unplugging all the lights at front, then pull the light switch all the way out. Do the dash lights and tail lights stay on as they should? If so, plug in one light in front at a time in front, and look at the dash and tail lights. You might be able to isolate the offending bulb or circuit in this manner. Check the ground circuit for the lights at the front.
