Sometimes I'm smart... others I'm not

So out of the clear blue sky, I walk out of the store and my Civic totally won't start. There was NO noise at all when the car was turned to ignition, and the battery worked fine - all the lights functioned, door remote worked fine.

So I had the car towed to my house in hopes I *might* be able to start it one last time to get it into a shop to have the starter replaced - costing me a fortune of course.

Well, I finally coughed up the $75 to get the car towed to the shop of my preference (at least AAA saved me $15 on the tow...). Less than 5 hours later I got a call from the shop with the approximate dialog that follows:
"Your car is ready to go!"
"Whaaaaaa?"
"Yeah, the starter is fine... there was a bad wire that I had to rewire and connect, but it's ready to go!"
"I'm an idiot."

Just had to share that it cost me $175 today to be told I'm a moron. :banghead:

Better $175 than $400 or more. At least it's fixed.

Yeah... they could have been shady and said "Yep, needs a new starter" and raped me, but they were honest. That much I did appreciate. Plus I have back my 32mpg "cheapo gas" ride instead of my 24mpg ethanol-intolerant ride. That's a VERY good thing with gas averaging $3.39+ in my area.

No, this is a valuable and rare discovery. An honest mechanic. Well worth the cost, in the long run, imo

They came HIGHLY recommended from both friends and through online reviews for being very honest. The problem is that they are 15 miles from where I live, but as long as the car(s) are running and driveable, I do believe I have a new mechanic. Yay!
