Turn Signal Knob Problem (lol)

Well, I think I just broke my turn signal knob. I don't know the official name for this piece, but it's the knob that comes out of the stearing wheel which includes my headlights and controls the turn signals.
The plastic around the knob has a crack in it, and it's causing the knob to read that my turn-signals are on when I don't want them to be, etc.
My question is simply where I can take the car to have it fixed. Is this going to have to be a special repair job from my manufacturer or can this be done at a local shop?
Any response/advice is greatly appreciated.
