93 silverado 4L60E problems

Hi guys,

I have a 93 silverado with 207,000 on it. Recently, It has been shifting hard into reverse and drive from park or nuetral. By shifting hard I mean it is "clunking" or "jumping" hard into gear. Almost as if you were holding the accelerator at a high rpm while shifting from park but it is at normal 700 rpm idle speed. Occasionally, it will also shift just a little bit hard from 1st to 2nd while increasing speed. Otherwise, everything else seems to be normal. Fluid level is fine and it's only got around 10,000 on it since I last changed the tranny filter. Any ideas??? I don't really want to spend the $$ on a rebuild since it's just our old farm runner but I do still love the old rust bucket and it is what's used for all our "dirty" work....

lift wheels off ground and rotate drive shafts to check the U joints.

I replaced both U-joints on the rear shaft at 199,000. I'm pretty sure it's in the tranny. But, I'll check the joints for defects just to make sure....

only use USA Ujoints...chinese are not working good.

many times new U joint can get damaged or hardware issues.

if the transmission had worn parts I would expect shifting problems ..

check the motor mounts especially driver side and the tranny mount.

sun shell fracture? would explain 2nd and reverse

Not likely the sun shell since 2nd and reverse are still operational. I would first scan the computer for any trouble codes before I do anything else.
