p1345 driving me crazy

my truck, a 99 s10 zr2 4.3 has the annoying p1345 code. It runs great. But Im tired of the SES light on.

I have checked and double checked. My distributor is in correctly. I have replaced the distributor drive gear. I have replaced the cam sensor. The cap rotor and plugs are new AC delco.

The code only appears when I start the engine. If I erase the code after the engine is started it will not reappear until you shut off and restart the engine.

does ANYONE have a idea what it could be????

Have you checked /set the camshaft retard?
What is it reading now?

Only 3 things will cause P1345 to set:

1) As MT mentioned, Camshaft retard not within spec: must be zero degrees + or - 2 degrees @ 2,000 RPM.

2) The distributor is off a tooth.

3) Crankshaft position sensor data is incorrect and needs to be relearned. This alone will NOT set a DTC, but it could cause the P1345 to set if the stored data is incorrect.

I'm thinking it must be camshaft retard or offset. I have checked everything else. and replaced the cam position sensor and drive gear. Now I am in search of a scan tool that will measure cam offset.

10-4 on that.
Also first step.
Make sure the 6 on dist base is lined up with rotor when no 1 cylinder is at TDC compression.
If READING IS 25 DEGREES or more off
Check the dist plugin and wireing plugin.
I have found bent over pins on the dist plug.

Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck

I'll check those pins. The rotor is pointing directly at the #6 while at TDC no doubt about it.

Start with reposting in the right forum.
And removing the cheap chiana link form you post.

This was to jhnhook1

10-4 let us know what you find.
Sometimes you have to get a small mirror in there to see them.
Good luck
