focus consuming too much gas

I have a 2002 focus and i have noticed over the last few weeks it has been consuming way to much gas. just today i drove about 10-15 miles and it consumed almost a 1/4 of a tank. other then the normal areas i should check (tire pressure, air filter, sparkplugs) is there anything else i should check? is there a known issue with this type of car im not aware of? thanks in advance for any help anyone can give!

When was your last throttle body cleaning?

To be more accurate it's my fiancés car and it's a 2003. But to answer your question, to my knowledge it has never been done.
