safety switch 87 LeSabre help

I bought a 87 LaSabre and it works fine.. only problem was it wouldnt start so we took it to the mechanic and he said the problem was the neutral safety switch...
so while the guy was installing it he accdently broke a screw that is what is conencted to the gears or transmission something like that..

the circled part is where the screw goes and that is broken..

That's where the shaft to the transmission that determines whether or not you want the car to go forward or backward goes through. The Trans pan will need to be dropped along with the valve body in order to replace the shaft. This is also the same shaft that the shift lever that the shift cable attaches to. Without that you will not be able to put the transmission in any gear.
Hopefully they can figure out some sort of remedy other than replacing it.
